The highlights of the Grand Traverse flight include:

  • Enjoy a spectacular 50 minute scenic flight over New Zealand’s Southern Alps, including views of Aoraki/Mount Cook, the highest peak in New Zealand.

  • An all-weather experience – if cloud cover limits telescope viewing, enjoy our immersive indoor virtual reality astronomy experience instead.
  • Choose from two unique experiences: Scope at the Stars, including a complimentary daytime hot pools pass, or Soak in the Stars, combining guided stargazing with exclusive access to a hot pool under the stars.

Two Stargazing options available:

Soak in the Stars

  • 90 minutes.
  • Telescope viewing + hot pools under the stars with Māori storytelling.
  • Minimum age 10 years.
  • Option to add a daytime hot pools pass as an upgrade, valid on the day of the tour or the day after.

Scope at the Stars

  • 60 minutes.
  • Telescope viewing only.
  • Minimum age 6 years.
  • Includes a daytime hot pools pass (valid on the day of the tour or the day after).

Age Restrictions for children:

  • Grand Traverse: 3-13 years (no charge for infants).
  • Soak in the Stars: 10-15yrs. 
  • Scope at the Stars: 6-15yrs.

Dress Code
Fight: Casual, comfortable, stable footwear, warm Jacket, sunglasses, camera.

Stargazing: warm shoes or boots and layers of warm clothing. Swimwear/towel for hot pools.

Cancellation
There is no charge if the activities are cancelled due to weather and an appropriate refund available if only one of the two activities are completed.

There is no charge if either activity is cancelled by the operator due to weather. If only one of the two activities is completed, an appropriate partial refund may be available.

For Air Safaris flights, cancellations greater than 48 hours prior to flight time will incur no charge. Cancellations between 24 and 48 hours prior to flight time will incur a 50% charge. Cancellations less than 24 hours prior to flight time, and no-shows, will incur a 100% charge.

For Tekapo Star Gazing tours, cancellations and reschedule requests can be made up to 24 hours prior to the start of the tour. Cancellations or reschedule requests made less than 24 hours prior to the start of the tour are non-refundable.
