November 2016 Earthquake Update

15th November 2016

Air Safaris would like all of our currently booked and future potential customers to know that for us, everything is operating normally following the early morning November 14 earthquakes. The earthquake was measured at 7.8 and has damaged parts of the mid to upper South Island transport infrastructure, notably around the Kaikoura area which is about 2 hours north of Christchurch. The main road network between Christchurch – Tekapo – Queenstown, as well as most of the rest of the South Island remain undamaged and in full use. As you can currently expect no delays on our roading system, Air Safaris will continue to operate as normal. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.

Our thoughts are with those affected by the earthquake. We praise the efforts of the emergency responders and the authorities who have a big clean up operation ahead of them to get parts of the road network fully operational again in the Kaikoura area.

For more information about specific road closure that may affect other parts of your journey in the South Island, check out the NZ Transport Authority website: NZTA
