Air Safaris operates air charter services throughout the South Island, and to North Island destinations on request. The company specializes in charter flights between Christchurch, Mount Cook, and Queenstown, and scenic flights to Milford Sound. Milford Sound Excursion
This flightseeing tour is ideal if you have limited time as driving to Milford Sound from Lake Tekapo is 7½ hours and from Franz Josef 9½ hours.
Flights operate on demand to spectacular Milford Sound from Lake Tekapo and Franz Josef. Scenic flights follow the Southern Alps to Milford Sound via the Mount Aspiring National Park taking in alpine valleys, Wanaka Basin, Mount Sefton and often return via the rugged West Coast of the South Island – a tour of the Mount Cook and Westland National Parks can also be included.
Time to stop at Milford Sound for a boat cruise can arranged if time and weather permit. Please note you would need to allow 1/2 day for this trip.

Trans Alpine Air Transfers
Weather permitting Air Safaris operate flights on demand between Franz Josef, Mount Cook and Lake Tekapo. This means a 6+ hour trip by road can be accomplished in less than 30 minutes by air. These trans alpine flights traverse some of the most spectacular alpine scenery the Mount Cook and Westland National Parks have to offer. Aerial Photography
Aircraft can be configured for photography (doors removed if required - by special arrangement and at the discretion of Air Safaris staff). All senior pilots have considerable experience in operating these photographic flights. Please contact us for a quote.
Educational Tours
Air Safaris can provide special educational aerial sightseeing tours of our unique glaciated environment. Tours include many ancient landforms and features contrasting with modern day processes and landscapes. The Mackenzie Basin around Lake Tekapo has been little altered since the last ice age approximately 15000 years ago and provides stunning views of a previously glaciated landscape. These flights also feature the high country sheep stations and how the rugged country is farmed.
